Emma offers private tuition to both children and adults and is available to travel to her students if necessary. Usually, her tutees come to her, either to The Trenchard Studio at her family house in Dorset or to her Studio based in Bath. Always building a great rapport with her tutees, Emma aims to inspire, excite and encourage whoever she teaches to find their way, with and through art; her main aim being to get to know her students and to provide them with whatever key they may be looking for to unlock or develop their passion for art in a unique, engaging and interesting way, adapting to the different styles, needs and wants of each individual and introducing them to fresh ideas, mediums and ways of seeing in the process. At present, most of Emma's tutees are school students aiming to build up and improve their portfolios for Art Scholarships or looking for a little help and direction with their GSCE or A-Level examinations. Three of her recent students have just been awarded art scholarships and others, with A* grades for their school exams. (Please see references below). Emma has taught art at several schools across central Asia and works for Blue Tutors, Tutorfair and Bonas Macfarlane tutoring agencies in Bath. She graduated with a BA in Fine Art and Design from Newcastle University in 2014, was awarded the Art and Sport All-Rounder Scholarship to Sherborne School for Girls in 2004 and achieved A* grades in all of her Art exams throughout school. Emma is available during the week and on weekends so please get in touch with her directly if you would like to book a tutorial or enquire further about her tuition methods and teaching experience.
Emma has run children's art classes and workshops for over a decade from the Trenchard studio at her family house in Dorset and now also from her studio in Bath, where she usually takes groups of up to 10 students at once, teaching them to draw and paint in the morning and make sculpture in the afternoon. The days usually run from 11am-4pm with a lunch break in the middle when the children are free to eat their packed lunches, run around the garden and have a think about what they would like to make in the afternoon. The days have always been a great success and thoroughly enjoyable with the kids producing some fantastic drawings and paintings and wonderfully imaginative sculptures out of clay which they can take home with them. Emma also runs art courses in Drawing, Painting and Sculpture for adults so please get in touch with her directly if you would like to enquire further about upcoming course dates or have any other queries at all.
“Emma has been tutoring my daughter for a number of years now and its always a total treat for Celia, as she never fails to be inspired by Emma’s enthusiastic and colourful personality combined with her strong technical artistic ability which helps drive Celia’s art to places she would never think of going on her own or even in my studio. As an artist myself, I recognise and admire Emma’s ability to teach art, and I can truly say that she has been a brilliant inspiration to Celia right through her last few years at prep school, when she was working towards getting an Art scholarship to Bryanston which she achieved - thanks to Emma’s ability - She has these amazing talent to constantly think outside the box and even now, Emma continues to feed Celia with ideas and creativity which she never tires from! I would highly recommend Emma to any young person (or old!), with a real passion for creativity and who perhaps longs to think outside the box, but needs to have their artistic brain awakening - and we all have a right brain!"
"Emma’s tutorials have had an entirely beneficial effect on our twelve year old daughter’s art. She is a talented and enthusiastic teacher and inspires enthusiasm and dedication in her pupils. Both our daughter and ourselves were delighted with the result."
Emma is a very accomplished and talented teacher. She has been a huge help to my daughter in her A level year. Emma has a wonderful eye for detail and communicates very well with her pupils. She is an excellent tutor and helped my daughter achieve an A* in her final exams. Emma was always very kind and thoughtful, and was full of fresh and innovative ideas and work. Emma always worked very hard to get the best results from her students and was delighted in my daughter’s achievements. I have very much enjoyed any time spent with Emma. She is an excellent teacher, great company and a very compassionate person. We are extremely satisfied customers. Emma is always prepared to go the extra mile for her pupils."
"Emma has been tutoring my oldest son Danny in art for a number of years. She is brilliant: inspiring, creative, committed. I couldn't recommend her more highly for any child or young adult with a passion for fine art. My son received an art scholarship with Emma's help."
"Emma Trenchard has been teaching children’s classes in my studio over the past six years. She has set these up herself and now has a large following of children. She has a wonderful way with young people, bonding with them very quickly and consequently they respond with marvellous work, both sculpture, painting, and drawing. She is patient with them and manages to make the projects huge fun. I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any teaching job. She has also been my studio assistant since leaving Newcastle University with a fine arts degree in June 2014 and has acquired a wide range of skills, such as welding, making armatures, working in plaster, clay and wax etc."
